Artists - Ill Gates

May 5, 2008 | Filed Under Featured Artists | No Comments

Ill Gates‘Ill Gates’ is not so much an emerging artist as an emerging moniker of an established producer creating a new alias.
Known for his production as ‘The Phat Conductor’ with releases on 2 Wars & A Revolution, Whomp, Promo, Dubble Sided Vinyl and also Venom records, ‘Ill Gates’ is otherwise Dylan Lane from Toronto Canada.

Dylan is one of Canada’s leading underground exports, holding it down since 1995 with gigs as far as Switzerland, the U.K, Burning Man, NY and the legendary Shambhala Music Festival in the rainforests on British Columbia. His diverse style covers all genres from Electro House, Techno, Breakbeat, Hip-Hop, Dancehall, DnB & IDM/Glitch. No matter what the venue, Dylan can suit his style to the crowd and keep the dancefloor rocking.

Recent collaborations and remixes under his two guises include a remix for Si Begg on Noodles, remixing the globe trotting Myagi and heavy hitting breaks and four to the floor tracks with Robb G on Promo Records . All these have been receiving high acclaim from established press.

We are also ecstatic to announce that Muti Music will be releasing an all new ‘Ill Gates’ artist album ‘Autopirate’, in the summer of 2008 that reflects the broad scope of Dylans talents and his production values in a broad range of genres from Hip Hop, Trip Hop, Glitch Hop, Dubstep, Breaks, to IDM and Chillout. ‘Autopirate’ will be preceded and followed by EP’s with a slew of remixes from all over the north american continent some heavy hitters in their own genres already and some emerging talent that we find very favorable here at Muti.

Watch this space for more news shortly, but for now you can download a recent promo mix by ‘Ill Gates / The Phat Conductor’ called ‘Speed Limit’ here:

Production - How to get rid of that whine in the studio

May 1, 2008 | Filed Under Production Tips | 2 Comments

We plan on bringing you some periodic tips on production issues from various producers who’ve been involved in Muti Music in some way, this month the tip is from Dov.
Problem: Using certain Firewire interfaces with a Power PC Mac sometimes results in an odd high pitched frequency emission, that no unplugging or rewiring of your studio will solve. In my case it was a Presonus Firebox interface when using my Macintosh PowerPC laptop, sometimes the whine / hum was minimal and other times more prominent, almost like having chronic tinnitus. I lucked out one day reading EQ magazine and found my solution. Continue reading Production - How to get rid of that whine in the studio…

Press / Response:

“Long established San Fran producer An-Ten-Nae ditches his (tired old) breakbeat, trance and techno, in favour of ‘acid crunk’, cranking up the dangerously dirty electro beats over a death metal style grunt to die for. Distinctly French in vibe (as in Institubes/ Level 75 style French) Destroy The System might do exactly that.Evil.”

Heyoka AKA Andrei Olenev is another cosmic audio waveform manipulator who recently delighted us at Muti Music with his auditory explorations. While reading, you may want to check out some of his forthcoming tunes on Muti on our ‘Player’ on the top menu bar.
We found him floating in the Bay Area noosphere after being called to our attention by another emerging talent in San Francisco and a bar night called ‘Beat Church’ where he has shredded a few dance - floor - boards in the past few months. Continue reading Blog - Emerging Artist Heyoka…

NandaNanda was first featured on the Muti Music compilation ‘Clipping Paths’ with his track ‘As We Let Go’ being one of many fan favourites on the CD. Keep your ears to the ground for a lot more from Nanda on Muti Music this year with styles ranging from dubstep, midtempo / glitch-hop to rolling electro breaks.

Nanda Bio: Mr. Nicholas Grabenstein, better known as Nanda to his closest peers of family members, artists, musicians, peace promoters, transcendentalists, devotees, yogis, rastas, hippies, dancers, lovers, non-haters and mischief makers, has been musically influenced from a very young age. Blog - NextAid - the beats of our generation helping the next

March 6, 2008 | Filed Under Blog Posts | 2 Comments

NextAid Image
The world of electronic music is far greater than nightclubs and parties and even transcends the ecstatic dance experience that in itself can change lives and consciousness.

People connecting at a grass roots level through dance music have the ability to raise dialogue about relevant issues, utilize their connection in music and dance as a form of protest , compose sound that alters people at a vibrational level and also to form communities and be able to raise funds to help those in need.
www.NextAid.org is a perfect example of an organization using the conscious dance community to provide sustainable solutions to communities in need.
This particular organization holds a particularly strong bond with us at Muti Music as it is involved in providing growth and support in our label and namesakes motherland ‘South Africa’, where the AIDS epidemic and the devastation of communities has left millions of children orphaned. For an introduction to NextAid and to hear how you can help them further please check out the promo video below featuring many of dance musics top figures including Kaskade, Mark Farina, J-Boogie, Louie Vega and more (you can also see Muti’s Dov DJing at their one benefit last year at the 2:20 minute mark in video).

NextAid Overview
Watch world renowned artists such as Louie Vega, Miguel Migs, Dj Colette and more speak about the AIDS crisis and give a voice to African children orphaned by AIDS.
