tsou’s, What You Do, is the type of release we get very excited about. A quickly emerging producer, send us a couple tunes that defy standard genres classifications and they instantly just have the hook and vibe that we feel.
‘Que’ begins with a chopped vocal sample, before dropping into some edgy compressed beats, the bass is something that creates an instant response and you’re just locked in from the get go with a kind of stank face to go along with it.
Off kilter synth stabs give you a little bit of polyrhythmic shuffle, the breakdown happens and then you ride that edgy beat all the way. What You Do has a strong contrast to the first tune, as it lightens things up beautifully. It goes into much more saturated synth based, future bass direction, lifts the vibe with a high pitched vocal and reminds us of why folks got into that Future Bass vibe in the first place.
tsou isn’t trying to cram the most aggressive and unexpected elements into his composition, which is a trap far too many fall into in the halftime game. Instead, his music provides a full-figured approach to production, that allows the jarrying, intense climaxes to be held in contrast to lush, moving passages.
While tsou is a relative newcomer to the game, he has amassed quite a following on SoundCloud. His songs have been far surpassing his reach on the back of quality products and cautious growth.
