Nanda Bio: Mr. Nicholas Grabenstein, better known as Nanda to his closest peers of family members, artists, musicians, peace promoters, transcendentalists, devotees, yogis, rastas, hippies, dancers, lovers, non-haters and mischief makers, has been musically influenced from a very young age. Cutting edge sounds of early Moog and Roland synthesizers, as well as an innate understanding of percussion, made the love of computer based music making come naturally. His inspiration continues to be fueled with the complete sentiment of how music touches so many people and is motivated to spread this positive vibe through his music making.  Currently residing in Santa Cruz Ca., he is busy working on future developments to dose the world with abstract tones of audio psycadellia.  Vast musical influences range from IDM and Breakbeat, to Dub and World Fusion. In today’s fight against the dark forces, and using music as the weapon, there is no plan on slowing this ship down.

Nanda is fast becoming known as one of the US west coasts bass maestro’s with tracks like his ‘Yoda Knowledge’ being the # 1 seller on Addictech for 2009 and also featuring prominently on Beatport and Juno Download charts. So once again we’ve got some heavy bass driven beats, this time Nanda drops an experience of deep beats occasionally filled out with tribal vocals, light atmospheric accents and overall driven by textured basslines.

Nanda typically dips into multiple influences and emerges with something broken in beats and flirting with Dubstep, Grime, Garage, Electro Bass and Downtempo music genre classifications. The result is something that pushes a few edges technologically and somehow retains a sense of worldliness.

Nanda typically dips into multiple influences and emerges with something broken in beats and flirting with Dubstep, Grime, Garage, Electro Bass and Downtempo music in genre classifications. The result is something that pushes a few edges technologically and somehow retains a sense of worldliness. In Nanda’s music it’s common to catch samples of Didgeridoo, Ood and ancient chants amongst other strings and organic instrumentation all in tracks that have some of the most crunchy Electro Breaks grooves and the result is an intense ecstatic dance experience waiting to happen.

Nanda’s new track - ‘High Heals Not Allowed’ has already seen comparisons to Lawgiverz, Nubreed and Jnr. Hacksaw and his unmistakable Santa Cruz and Hawaii vibe come through strongly in his chill and midtempo compositions. We were honored to have Nanda back for more following the success of his track ‘As We Let Go’ on our ‘Clipping Paths compilation. ‘Somewhere Between Worlds’ covers a broad range of sounds from midtempo and dubstep to grimey electro bits, always present with a little bit of glitch for color
