Russ Liquid combines his organic instrumentation with experimental genre pushing electronica with incredible musicality, Saving Grace shows off his forward thinking production and delivers some delightful results.
Set apart from other up-and-coming West Coast bass music producers by his extensive world-touring history and performance experience, Russ Liquid brings a much-needed injection of melody and emotion to the thriving dance floor community.
Classically trained on the piano, trumpet, saxophone and flute, Russ Liquid spent his early 20’s touring the Caribbean and South America as part of a jazz quintet, playing resorts, cruise ships and dance clubs. Once the young composer was introduced to electronic music, his course in life was forever altered, and he soon discovered a new home in the international electronic music community.
Hand-crafting sexy sounds by blending elements of many genres together, Russ Liquid applies the colorful tones of instrumental music to the realm of the beats with dance floor-rocking results. This talented producer has found an entirely new palette to “paint” with, and now he seeks to bridge the gap between classical and modern music with new electronic technology and sonic possibilities.

French-born producer Greg Reve can proudly claim to catch people by surprise. While you may not have heard of this extraordinary talent his tracks have been supported by some of the world’s most respected DJs, including Laurent Garnier and American bass scene figurehead Bassnectar.
Consistently offering new perspectives and precise production, Greg Reve’s new EP for San Francisco label Muti Music promises great things, and then delivers them in a spectacularly different fashion.
Spanning drum & bass, electro, dubstep and all manner of bass music in between, the ‘Unveiled’ EP packs five full-length punches, three of which feature vocals from Feed Me and Noisia collaborator Tasha Baxter.
‘Let Go’ is the first of those collaborations, a track which jumps from horror organs to crunking breakbeats and earthquake bass in the blink of an eye. Tasha’s vocals soar and climb while Greg Reve’s progressive production allows each moment to breathe, never giving into formula as it builds to an almighty crescendo.
Tasha Baxter also features on ‘Outa Line’, a fantastic bass-music throwback to sleazy lounge bars that’s as original as it is intensely grimy, as well as ‘Illusions’ which captures French disco influences that build and grow into expansive electro; all enveloping and all consuming.
American hip hop outfit Antipop Consortium join Greg Reve for the deliciously dirty ‘Put ‘Em Up’, combining ribcage worrying bass with constantly shifting and changing musical sections topped with spitfire bars that implore you to throw your hands in the air.
Finally Greg Reve goes solo on ‘The Eclipse’, the perfect way to round off an amazing EP. An epic war between organic sounds and digital synthetics is taking place and you’re here to witness the fall of all possible reason. In Reve’s signature style this track never stops moving, never stops surprising and by the time the track drops at a brave two minutes eleven seconds you’re ready for the apocalypse that follows.
If there is one thing that the ‘Unveiled’ EP makes clear, it’s that Greg Reve is not only an accomplished producer, but a courageous one; never afraid to take the difficult road in search of a new sound or style, yet always astute enough to bring everything together with a sense of purpose. This EP is a headshot, it doesn’t give you time to think, only to succumb to its unstoppable power.

An-ten-nae’s talent for bringing the best out of the vocalists he’s worked with is well known with the success of his remixes of Freeland, Soom T & Disrupt and Masia One, with his ‘Dirty Money’ remix becoming an anthem in the Occupy movement and his mashups becoming a huge hit on Soundcloud.
On Acid Crunk EP 9 An-ten-nae has discovered another rising star in XOchitl who performs an emotional and provocative masterpiece in ‘We Got The Power’, which was written recorded in an underground cave. XOchitl is already being described as having a similar range as Bjork.
Hot on the heels of his latest slew of remixes of Santigold and M.IA comes,We got the power and features 2 versions on this e.p The original being a super catchy and bottom-heavy vocal rollercoaster ride which bursts of raw emotion. The Acid crunk remix of the track takes the track into deeper territories with just the right amount growl to tickle dance floors into euphoric submission.. Another 3 Original An-Ten-Nae tracks balance out this ep with defining grace including the Drumstep tempo-ed Deep 808 electro infused bass monster ‘For the People’ Which is already seeing play by some of the biggest DJ’s on the bass scene already.
The Acid Crunk machine of An-ten-nae, has been touring extensively blowing minds with major sets at festivals like Wakarusa, RE:Generation, Coachella, L.I.B, and a host of others.

Outernational bass music nomad Filastine ups the ante with £00T. Fractured post-dubstep beat innovations support delicate string arrangements. Overdriven bass synths battle pentatonic gong patterns. Listen closely and listen loud.
Looting from the coffers of hip-hop, moombahton, dubstep and cumbia, Filastine keeps the bass pressure pumping and drums up front. But any similarity to club music genres ends quickly. While a growing tropical bass movement hypes a pan-global dance party, Filastine blazes a different path. Intricate polyrhythms, muted balkan trumpets, ephemeral soundscapes, and unique vocal contributions push this album off the known map into uncharted musical territory.
Introduction No Step will test your speakers for the album that follows. Gendjer2 and Colony Collapse are the fruit of a tight collaboration with Indonesian rapper Nova. She contributes lush 60’s R&B harmonies and megaphone-filtered rhymes.Filastine’s time in Asia also brings a featuring from Japan’s chief rap dadaist ECD. In Lost Report hear him shouting against nuclear contamination over a dirty bass hook and the stuttered clicks of a geiger counter. These onsite collaborations were recorded everywhere from warehouses to rainforests, then painstakingly mixed over the course of 2011 in a rooftop studio in the muslim quarter of Barcelona, with breaks to participate in the Spanish uprisings of last year.
Throughout the album Filastine leverages rhythmic expertise that he’s gathered far and wide, from the tiny Moroccan village of Jajouka to the coke-fueled parades of Rio de Janeiro. Echoes of Filastine’s old marching band, the Infernal Noise
Brigade, propel the drum corp juke of Circulate False Notes and the glitch-crunk of Skirmish. Even Filastine’s years as a taxi driver are audible in the field recordings of radio static, street noises and polyglot collages.
£00T comes with a grip of videos and graphics that riff on concepts from the Arab spring to ecological and financial collapse. With a CD design doubling as utopian money, the album launches alongside a currency for a near-future network of clandestine floating cities.
In 2006 DJ Rupture presented Filastines first album, Burn It. 2009’s follow up, Dirty Bomb brought nearly 300 invitations to perform, from Tasmania to Tunisia, with some gigantic tours in the USA supporting artists like Bassnectar. £OOT completes the trilogy and launches another world tour. A new re-tooled live set uses custom software to pull off some deep AV madness and sees Filastine expanding to tour as a duo, joined onstage by vocalist Nova or one of the collaborating cellists from the album. Expect them everywhere.

After a two year hiatus from releases, nomadic bass music producer Filastine is set to drop his third album £OOT this spring. The first warning is this EP, Colony Collapse, an opus of a track, video & concept that comes backed by a grip of beautiful remixes.
For Colony Collapse, Filastine paired up with Nova, indy rapper/singer/poetess from Malang, Indonesia. The duo worked on the track and video an entire year, from an initial session in Barcelona to the final vocal recordings conducted in a Javanese forest. Grinding bass wobbles salvaged from shipwreck of dubstep support delicate metallic gong patterns recorded at the world’s largest collection of gamelan orchestras in Sanur, Bali. Colony Collapse is full of intricate layers and acoustic tricks, listen closely and listen loud.
If the title and the lyrics of Colony Collapse aren’t explicit enough, the video leaves no doubt about the concept. It is filmed at sites of ecological friction, the fault lines of conflict between humanity and (the rest of) nature. Filastine & team entered into industrial disasters, floods, traffic snarls and scaled a mountain of garbage to show you the slow-motion apocalypse, uncomfortably close and personal.
Each remixer took the song to a completely different place, no two sound remotely similar. Beats Antique (US) outdid themselves: adding live banjo, violin and drums to create a lush composition in their inimitable style. Squeaky Lobster (BE) delivers a masterpiece of stuttered avant-garde glitch-hop. Jarring Effects label-mate LʼOuef Raide (FR) transforms the track into a sparse future bass. A dark dubwise ricochet by Capetown’s Fletcher in Dub (SA) closes it out.
Colony Collapse (EP/video) February 29, 2012. Leap!
£00T (full album LP) April 3, 2012.

Introducing a new artist from Riga Latvia, namely Stereoglyph, who claims online music forums educated him with cool music and there must have been a good few US west coast ‘heads’ on those boards as he manages to sound more like the US west coast than many artists actually from San Francisco or L.A. The beats are tight, the synths are uplifting, friendly, hyped up and melodic.
We look forward to hearing more from this talented young artist.
Stereoglyph started playing with FL Studio 7 when he was 12 years old, and became another FL Studio kiddie. After a few years of making ear-piercing techno, joining an online music community (www.idmforums.com) gave him the slap in the face he needed, and he set off on a journey starting at Dubstep and Glitch Hop, going through House, Electro, Drum’n’Bass, and Ambient, before coming back to Glitch Hop, and finally founding the name Stereoglyph in November, 2011.

His sound includes elegant downtempo ‘lovestep’ moving swiftly between haunting samples, throbbing sub-bass and 8 bit funk. His DJ sets have been geared to the sexier and less aggressive side of Dubstep with bass deep and hypnotic. When it comes to his love of Hiphop, Dub, and Dancehall, Nico melds these influences into upbeat Left Coast Crunk and Glitch Hop. On his new Acid Crunk Vol. 4 compilation you start getting a feel for how diverse the ‘Glitch-Hop / Crunk’ music scene is, riding hand in hand with the growth of Dubstep and seen by many as ‘post-dubstep’. This isn’t Dubstep, Hip Hop, Wonky or anything usually packaged neatly for mass consumption. It’s an amalgamation of squashed neon-tinged futuristic bass music. All we can say is ... get ready! An-ten-nae is currently touring internationally in support of the compilation, keep your ear to ground for his shows in a city near you.

Glorious Dystopia is as much a display of where Great Scott has come as a producer as it is a deep and emotional reflection of humanity and our surroundings. Dystopia Movement’s 1 & 2 are so beautiful they rip your heart wide open with emotion, the EP otherwise ranges from the intense and even edgy, but always flowing and with glimpses of introspection. Uplifting moments abound in Mad Hydraulic Bounce and My Sashimi that would rage fans of Pretty Lights, STS9 as much as they would a breaks dancefloor.
Great Scott is the host of “MK Ultra,” on KTRU in Houston, is a regular on NSB Radio, has also been a resident DJ in China and was one of the NuSkoolBreaks radio DJs at WMC 2009. Recently Scott also founded and launched a new online radio show, Glitch. FM, which has fast become the centerpiece radio station for the emerging genres of wonky, glitch hop, lazer bass, turbo crunk, acid crunk and whatever else you’d like to call the new edgy instrumental hip hop and breakbeat scenes. Strongly inspired by the sounds of old-school big beat and breaks, including the likes of Fluke, The Prodigy, and Rabbit In The Moon, Scott is constantly attempting to fuse the sounds of the old with that of the new, while trying to achieve a delicate balance between producing music that’s meant to make people move, with that which inflicts various emotions and imagery.

“I remember his album ‘Wolf Spiders’ with R2 The Specialist, conceiving everything at once and redefining what could be done with Dubstep, Techno, Funk, Breakbeats, Crunk and pretty much anything else for that matter.”
“Mad Zach and his elaborate MIDI controllers define what Glitch Hop is about, taking performance and production hardware and software and fuzing influences from everywhere and creating a new alien funk that is as twisted as it is contagious.”
Mad Zach
Mad Zach’s sound is the product of a sinister lab experiment dealing with psychedelics and circuitry. The goal was to externalize the organization of the universe into a complex series of resonances in order to unlock inter-dimensional portals and open minds. Yet from the ruins of ancient wisdom and future bound circuitry an inexplicably dark franken-bot was resurrected. It marches to the off beat of the lucifer rebellion, backed by a mutant army of lost souls. In his twisted laboratory, Mad Zach creates chemically synthesized microcosms of inter-galactic audio secrets that cause ripples and folds in the space time continuum. The result is textural, spectral, and riddled with lobe cracking impulses and subharmonic body thwaps. In short, Mad Zach delivers a truly visceral and one of a kind audio experience that shakes the dancefloor as much as it elevates spirits into the ether.
His highly anticipated live performances integrate an armada of custom built midi controllers and live hardware to deliver the purest frequencies to your brain. Prepare to be melted.

“Cactus Highrise” is the latest release from Timonkey in his ongoing quest to bring the dreamtime back to the dancefloor.
“A festival sunrise over the beach, forest or desert, a walk in the park, or a glass of wine and a book, Timonkey’s music is the sort of downtempo / chillout music that makes gentle moods, soft vibes and simple moments all the more beautiful. ”
Timonkey
10 years ago, Timonkey climbed a massive Redwood tree that towered above a renegade party in the Santa Cruz mountains. As the sun rose, he received the inspiration for what has been his mission ever since: to make the best sunrise music ever. Delivering a proper morning set is a delicate art: the dancers need strong energy to keep going, but they are also craving something different by this point in the experience. Timonkey is one of the few DJ/Producers who specialize in providing this “something different” that can give a long night of rave and revelry the closing ritual it deserves.
During his years of experience as a DJ/Producer, Timonkey has shared the stage with the likes of Tipper, Vibesquad, Kraddy, Random Rab, as well as Muti Music label mates Ill Gates, Mimosa, and Heyoka. All name-dropping aside, he has reached the elusive goal of a “signature sound”: chopped vocals, analog keyboards, field recordings and airy textures alongside massive bass and glitched out beats. Beyond the technical elements, his tracks have an unmistakable vibe all their own: a dreamy, heart-felt quality that makes a delightful treat for party-goers who make it to the dawn.

On Intergalactic Carnival, Heyoka explores sixties garage, seventies funk, and carousel & circus tunes from the late 1800’s and takes them to a futuristic Star Wars colony psychedelic funk bar for martians and other intergalactic bass funk explorers.
Andrei Olenev, also known as Heyoka manages to stand out amongst bass music producers with a cult like following due to his unique take on all things ‘Glitch’ and ‘Bass’ centric. In the past few years Heyoka has been taking elements of Glitch Hop, Grime, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Blues and Jazz and turned them on their heads repeatedly and emerging at times like the audio version of synthesized dimethyltryptamine and other times creating walls of sound that provide a full body massage and relieve pressure on the extremities.
One undeniably consistent element that is heard from anywhere he has toured or been submitted for review, is that the Heyoka experience is a bass music lovers delight. Artwork and animated fractal videos are also done by Andrei Olenev.

“Qāri’ (Arabic: قَارٍئ, plural قُرَّأ qurrā) “reader” is a person who recites the Qur’an with the proper rules of recitation (tajwīd). The Quari is a meditative journey through the depths of rhythm and bass, guided by the voice of a female Quari, reciting an actual verse from the Qur’an.
Naked on Acid is my vision of painting with sound. It’s sounds, thoughts and textures drawn across the auditory spectrum with brushlike strokes, flowing into eachother and creating a synesthetic field to journey into. My recommendation: Sit down in-between your speakers, the stereo field, close your eyes and really listen. Video coming soon!
Fire on the Roof is my tribute to the roots of B-boy and HipHop culture. Unapologetic dance floor mayhem cut and spliced with classic hiphop bits and scratches. Yes, that’s me scratching on a Technics 1200, like we used to do in the old days.
Los Angeles based Quade, takes The Quari to the dancefloor. Groovy and heady.
Featuring Seasunz, Wiseproof and Wendy Love, with Amira Diamond on Violin. GlitchHop bass meets real underground HipHop sensibility. Lyrics with meaning, this is real music people!”

After a brief hiatus scoring music for film and advertising Greg Reve (T.O.B.) is back with Decoy, i.e. the bassline equivalent of a 6-pack abdominal workout. Previous support for his tunes has come from the likes of Bassnectar, N-Type, Laurent Garnier, David Starefire, Digital Rust and the “Hot 1 @ 1” spot on Bobby Frictions show on BBCRadio1. This same cast is lining up in support of this new EP along with Dieselboy and they’re eagerly anticipating more.

On Decoy Greg Reve (T.O.B.) teams up with Hip-Hop MC Whosane, who has been featured with Mos Def on past tunes with Ski Beats. Whosanes vocal on Decoy is driving, edgy and straight up heat.
The EP then features instrumental remixes by top Muti Music artists ill.Gates & Dov, New Zealand artist and ‘lady behind all things bassline’, Unsub and the man who’s dominated many a Beatport ‘dubstep’ chart namely Mark Instinct .

Kemek is back again after his outings in experimental music and dubstep last year on ‘Sine Language’ and ‘Certain Frequencies’ gaining new attention for him as an artist. His downtempo experimental output gained attention with ‘Certain Frequencies’ being licensed to chillout compilations and played on Radio and Podcasts extensively.
He now delivers an experimental chillout album featuring sounds that take us back to Kemek’s roots in the nineties and field recordings that takes a listener to Kemeks stays in Japan and his battles with tinnitus. The journey is melancholy at times and otherwise gentle and uplifting.

“P.H.Fat’s debut album “Dinosaur Blood” is swampy mix of gut-stirring bass and sticky psycho-delic dubby beats overlaid with luscious lyrics, which, when experienced, feels like the musical equivalent of a sweaty bone-crushing hug from a sexy alien from outer space. “Dinosaur Blood” is an aural mind f**k for sure. - http://www.bizcommunity.com

“Astral Traveler” is the latest release from Timonkey in his ongoing quest to bring the dreamtime back to the dancefloor.
4 new tracks for today’s discerning bass lover.”
“Astral Traveler is deep, funky and uplifting; perfect for any evening or morning preferably with sunrise or sunset involved.”

“.. shifting between a dark tunnelled cyber-realm playing bassline lazer-tag, a cushioned bed of clouds and bouncing into newly discovered outer regions of the skies, Lurk Sauce is a fascinating journey.”
Audiovoid has been turning heads for many years and his electronic music, evolving from involvement in Death Metal band “Lamia” and journeying to IDM, Techno, Psy-Trance, Breakbeat and Electro. Audiovoid never limits himself to just one genre of music. In 2002 Audiovoid compiled 80 minutes of material from various demos and created his first full length CD, “Twilight Machine”. In 2003, Ultra Records nominated him a top finalist for a remix he did of Sasha’s ‘Wavy Gravy’. Heyoka manages to stand out amongst bass music producers with a cult like following due to his unique take on all things ‘Glitch’ and ‘Bass’ centric. In the past few years Heyoka has been taking elements of Glitch Hop, Grime, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, and now Blues and Jazz and turned them on their heads repeatedly and emerging at times like the audio version of synthesized dimethyltryptamine and other times creating walls of sound that provide a full body massage and relieve pressure on the extremities.
One undeniably consistent element that is heard from anywhere he has toured or been submitted for review, is that the Heyoka experience is a bass lovers delight.
Mandelbass is named in respect to mathematician and ‘creator’ of fractals Benoit B. Mandelbrot and also delves deeply into blues and 1960’s garage influences, all the while maintaining Heyoka’s dynamic use of Glitch plugins and edits. FreQ Nasty
Born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand, breakbeat pioneer FreQ Nasty is widely-acknowledged by critics for consistently breaking boundaries with his music, from his classic breaks tunes such as “Boomin Back Atcha” and “Move Back,” to remixes of pop icons like Fatboy Slim, Kelis and KRS-One.
At the same time, FreQ is receptive to all that surrounds him; for example, his move to London and immersion in its developing scenes in the 80s resulted in seminal releases on Botchit & Scarper. Forward thinking and progressive, his releases evidenced a sign of the fast-moving times.
These days, FreQ Nasty is staying one step ahead of the ongoing, hype-fueled evolution of electronic music with his contributions to the Futurestep sound. The recently released FABRICLIVE.42 mix album is evidence of this shapeshifting sound: with it, FreQ takes on the bass heavy stomp of L-Vis 1990’s UK take on Baltimore house, the blistering shatter of TRG, and several of his own storming productions, including Creator, a co-production with Switch on a Santigold tune released in 2007.
FreQ is also well-known in the music scene for his social activism. In early 2008, he launched Giveback.net, a socially-conscious site featuring music campaigns, whereby musicians donate music in support of non-profit “action campaigns”.

Los Angeles based producer Stephan Jacobs has been defining his position in the Dubstep and Glitch realms with a particularly strong US west coast take on the genres. Sugarpill is also no newcomer to the realms of Glitch with a recent slamming release ‘Flow Goggles’ out on Mochipets’ Daly City Records as well as doing an official remix of Mochipet - Complex Players Dub for them.
They combine forces on Level Attack to deliver a hard hitting synth driven track that hits hard for a dancefloor. Adding vocalist Naada to the mix is the spice on the pudding, her vocals hit hard with a strong hook and you’ll find yourself believing, “You’re never going to tap that ...” so you may as well keep dancing.
Level Attack includes remixes by some of the top and emerging artists in Dubstep and Glitch, Samples makes an appearance on Muti once again with an absolute slamming dubstep mix, as does Great Scott who throws down just the breaks mix that it needed. Willie Whompa and Goodie offer a deeper take that could give ‘The Glitch Mob’ a good nod, +verb takes it even glitchier and ChrisB closes out with a sound very reminiscent of some Mimosa tunes.

‘Ghosts’ by SeventhSwami is as uplifting and beautiful as it is quirky, funky and heart-wrenching. It takes a listener through the gentle depths of ‘I Can Fix Things’, to a melancholy, thoughtful and organic journeys of ‘Lucidity’ & ‘Memories’ into a playful and groovy almost future-garage sounding ‘Subterfuge’ and ends with the epic tear-jerking melodic anthem, ‘The Art Of Letting Go’. This time SeventhSwami leaves no stone unturned and delivers a package that is bound to move you.
It was late 2008 when we first encountered SeventhSwami through his performing with the San Francisco ‘Ambient Mafia’ crew and his mixes at Stilldream Campout and were instantly curious about his auditory offerings.
His debut album ‘Here For Now’ on Muti Music in 2009 garnered him much respect from accomplished Glitch, Downtempo, World and IDM producers.
“Muti further solidifies their reputation as a prime west coast outlet for downtempo electronics with this tight release. ‘tornado dreams’ and ‘forever you forever me’ are highlights, with their digitized focus and IDM aesthetic. thanks for sending…” – SHEN / Noah Pred (Native State/GSC)
”[Seventh Swami’s] mastery of form through such a variety of unique soundscapes is truly impressive, utilizing the best of atmospheric breaks, electronic hip-hop, and warped downtempo without appearing to stretch. Bits of traditional Japanese instrumentation occasionally floats up through the digital distortion and perfectly tweaked samples. The whole thing is still a hair shy of the upper level where Tipper and edIT live, but its very, very close. He’s one more illusion destroying mushroom experience and another album away from greatness.” - Pop Matters Blog
“What an Awesome Album! Some really fresh musicality going on behind the top class glitches & Mangling. This is probably my favourite Muti release so far, & considering the other artists on the Label that in itself is saying something:) keep up the great work & respects to the Seventh Swami!”
- Seb Taylor (Hibernation / Digitalis / Kaya Project etc….)

Sharps is a Canadian artists pushing versions of Future Garage/Dubstep tunes to some funky and very fun places.
First introduced to us at Muti Music with his remix of ill.Gates & Meesha feat. Masia One - Irma Vep, we were eager to hear more and ‘Bad Sister’ is just what we needed to hear.
Sharps began writing beats in the mid 90’s as rave culture emerged in his birth town of Edmonton, Alberta. Inspired by these sweaty parties and the complex IDM of the time, he put together a studio rig and started making tracks, distributing cassette tapes and CDs. Rooted in a belief in the underground and cutting edge bass culture, he broke into the international scene in 2007 with his bomb “Nightwork”, a mutant crossover tune that got heavy play from the biggest DJs in the North American and UK bass underground. Since then he has continued to release top-shelf material for the bass music scene. Some of his highlight tracks from the last few years include Turbo, Girl Sweat, The Limit and My Little Pony - a remix of Ginuwine’s hit that went off the charts during the summer of 2009. His recent release “Tropical Bass” features a hybrid sound fusing latin dembo riddims with the west coast bass sound.
As a DJ, Sharps’ sets are a colorful blend of originals, remixes and edits from across the spectrum of damn good dance music. Sharps now resides in Vancouver, BC where he continues to create heavy tunes and manage Saedos Records (saedos.com), a label dedicated to cutting edge bass music.

We’ve gathered a collection of who’s-who from the Canadian and US Glitch Hop and Dubstep scenes that each deliver a unique remix as well as adding extra melody and flavor to Subverts anthem track ‘Speaker Humpin’. Four versions were heard on the Village Stage at this years Shambala Music Festival by a few thousand bass addicts and mosh pit revelers.
The mixes take you through multiple aspects of contemporary bass culture and if bass is your thing then there is a version for you.
About Subvert
Subvert hails from Calgary, Alberta and his winding path in music started in 1996. Proof of his dedication to ‘bass’ is in his track record of creating the world’s loudest competition vehicles, designing pK’s 90,000 watt sound system and managing the Village Stage at Shambhala Music Festival. He started DJing in 2000 and combined with his extensive work on sound systems and attention to precision sound, he was ultimately & naturally led down the path to creating his own music productions and once again the low frequencies consumed him.
Subvert’s sound is a combination of throbbing, relentless basslines, melodic strings and haunting pianos singing through midtempo glitch / acid crunk and dubstep. His attention to detail and the ability to tune into ‘bass that works on a sound-system ’ can be felt in all of his music productions, he is an expert in the subsonic, the crowd and the show.
Subvert’s ‘Dirt Nap’ EP rocked the Addictech and Beatport ‘Grime / Dubstep’ charts and lead to him being featured in XLR8R magazine and radio play on multiple urban music shows, his Speaker Humpin EP on Muti Music and Party Alarm EP on Rottun Recordings blurred boundaries between edgy Dubstep, Glitch Hop and Big Beat. An-ten-nae is one of San Francisco’s most sought after DJs and live performers. He has taken the art of live remixing to new heights with his own customized performance setup, enabling him to bend genres in ways seldom heard.
Acid Crunk EP#7 demonstrates the power of the west coast bass culture in all its glory. The EP start off with his remixes of Australian vocalist Deya Dova’s ‘5 So Happy’ , which brought the house down on the Village Stage at Shambhala Music Festival this year, on the dub version he strips all the elements of the original, only keeping light vocals and creating a tribal-acid-stepper of epic proportions. Following is the Instrumental of his track Take A Stand which features massive 808’s, warped Basslines, and searing effects. To experience her DJ is to experience an individual clearly being herself within a musical state, and doing so while creating sound that inescapably slays the dancefloor. - Big Up Magazine
Muti Music is overjoyed to announce the release of Ana Sia’s debut EP, ‘International Profile’.
Not many DJs get magazine feature articles before their debut releases have ever materialized, however if you’re making enough impact on a scene and culture with your DJ touring as Ana has, then it’s not such a surprise. Uniting the best elements of dirty dubstep, grimy glitch, and her personalized blend of “global slut psy-hop.” Ana Sia’s sets confirm crunk status of all who dare enter into her seamless world of sound.
‘International Profile’ shifts between straight up Hip Hop, Dubstep and Grime influences and maintains a sexy humanist feel. A few of the tracks are collaborations with our ‘master of all things Ableton’, Mr. ill.Gates and they deliver on all accounts as expected, ‘Extraordinary Rendition’ has already been a hit at festivals this summer.
Ana Sia’s love of electronic music combined with an innate understanding of the value of dance to the human soul collectively fuse to create unforgettable sets of experience, whether she is slamming spots in her hometown of San Francisco or taking her turn in the forests of music festivals around the country.
Ana’s energetic delivery of brain-fazing beats has earned the Princess Slay-ah moniker an important spot in pioneering the West Coast future sound movement. She will take you on a musical expedition into the deepest reaches of your brain, as she masterfully blends a wide spectrum of rhythms with a beautiful fluidity and a delicate sensibility, giving the dance floor a delightful ride that ends at the corner of bliss and oblivion.

Great Scott’s tracks Defcon and Tarot get some excellent reworks by Run Riot, Samples, Royal Sapien and Mesmer, each giving their own unique breakbeat interpretations.
‘Defcon’ was previously supported on BBC radio and also included on the ‘LoveEvolution’ CD alongside the likes of Lee Coombs, Miguel Migs, Christopher Lawrence and more luminaries of dance music culture. This new remix EP is once again a combination of midtempo Glitch Hop and uptempo Breakbeats and even a drop into Dubstep from Run Riot and Samples. The Royal Sapien remix of ‘Tarot’ takes things into a deeper vibe and Mesmer finishes things of with some inspiring progressive moods.

In the past three years Heyoka has been taking elements of Glitch Hop, Grime, Drum & Bass and Dubstep and turned them on their heads repeatedly and emerging at times like the audio conversion of synthesized dimethyltryptamine and other times creating walls of sound that provide a full body massage and relieve pressure on the extremities. One undeniably consistent element that is heard from anywhere he has toured or been submitted for review, is that the Heyoka experience is a bass lovers delight.
His albums tend to be evolutions of certain parameters on self created sound pallets and genre experimentations. On ‘Cosmic Boogie’ he carries on where he left off delving into Halfstep and some Drum & Bass on ‘Marklar’. This time he also embraces old-skool beats like the ‘amen’ loop while staying true to style, he edits the hell out of them and adds his own distinctive flavor.
Heyoka has been on the road steadily and his growth as a performer is evident in his ability to reinterpret his music to various dancefloors and circumstances.
Morpheus Music pretty much summed him up when reviewing Marklar:
“Maklar has an unrelenting dynamism about it - compulsive rhythms of an almost primal nature defying even the uninitiated to remain unmoved. Once the d’n’b rhythms kick in there is an almost chemical elegance that arises - nimble geometric arrangements among the peripheral ephemera and frenetic marginal detail that call to mind the structured chaos of nature. The use of so much imaginative sound manipulation and sonic mangling gives Marklar a distinct flavour; Sonic effects for Heyoka being not so much embellishments as central elements to the music.”

‘Jingletown’ is a name given to a ghetto neighborhood on the south side of Oakland where cultures collide. Home to some of the best Burritos in the Bay Area, some of the most hyped of the Hyphe Hip Hop scene and some scary street sideshows.
Both successful and starving artists live there for the cheaper large work spaces, musicians like it because they get away with noise at all hours and the rest is wreaths on the sidewalk from a recent drive by or some other gang related violence.
On ‘Jingletown’ , Siren delves into the sound and energy of the neighborhood.
The ecstatic enjoyment of good tunes in a lowrider on the sunny day, is ‘Summertime In Oakland’, the edginess of hitting those same streets at night is reflected on the tracks ‘Law & Disorder’ and ‘Negative Ion’, ‘Stunna’ is hitting the happening club or underground warehouse party and then escaping it all as you wizz away on the freeway are the sounds of ‘Burst’.
Since his debut on Muti Music last year, Siren took the US west coast by storm. He was quickly signed to an agency alongside the likes of Kraddy, Mimosa, RD and Marty Party and began his career as a touring DJ & producer.
Some recent highlights include playing to thousands of fans on the Do Lab Stage at Coachella this year and headlining at Beta in Denver.

All name-dropping aside, he has reached the elusive goal of a “signature sound”: chopped vocals, analog keyboards and airy textures alongside massive bass and glitched out beats. Beyond the technical elements, his tracks have an unmistakable vibe all their own: a dreamy, heart-felt quality that makes a delightful treat for party-goers who make it to the dawn.

We’re very happy to re-introduce an artist who was our debut release back in 2002 and went on to become quite a name in Breakbeat, releasing on Bedrock Breaks, Air Dog, Sponge Recordings amongst others and also remixing ‘My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult’ for release on Red Ant & Studio !K7.
Kemek has since dropped ‘The Dope Computer’ part of his name and re-surfaced from stays in Japan (with a few gigs alongside the likes of Hyper) and ongoing battles with tinnitus. Now his musical journey continues with a deconstructionist look at Dubstep on the appropriately named EP ‘Sine Language’.
It is evident on the EP that Kemek has maintained his sensibility for urban music and strong roots dating back to classic rave music of the nineties, when he composed for Silent Recordings as 303 Terrorist. His evolution as a producer is evident as he allows space for sounds and grooves to evolve from simple beginnings and the results are very effective.

The success of An-ten-nae’s Acid Crunk series has helped define more than a genre but a culture of freaky funk for the dancefloor.
This time round An-ten-nae picked Cape Town, South Africa based artists ‘Mix n Blend & Narch’ and then put the track through his own remix actions and got remixes by some of the US west coats most sought after artists of the moment, namely; Beats Antique, Dov, Mochipet and Random Rab. From the jazzed out instrumentation of Beats Antique to the hyphe glitch of Mochipet the effect is high impact and made for dancing.
Mix n Blend & Narch have been rocking festivals around South Africa from Oppikoppi to Rezonance and then keeping their local Cape Town scene funky and fresh with diverse beats.
Mix n Blend s debut album in 2009 ‘Look Mom, No Hands’, on African Dope Records was widely supported including Boom Monk Ben from Solid Steel Records UK including numerous Mix n Blend tunes in his now famous Solid Steel Mixes. 2010 also started hot for these young fellas with their dubstep crunk ‘Get Crunk Wit Jesus’ track getting signed to UK based Skanky Panky Records and selling well. The future is bright with Mix n Blend & Narch bringing us a little of that sunny South African heat.

We were first blown away by Masia One through her work with ill.gates & Meesha on the track ‘Irma Vep’ released on ill.gates album Autopirate (MutiCD006) and henceforth discovered her album PULAU.
Hearing the similarities of her Hip Hop with contemporary Electronica, Grime and Dubstep, our electronic producers were eager to work with her, we approached Masia One about remixing some of her lyrics, this package includes remixes by An-ten-nae, ill.gates & Meesha and Mochipet.
MASIA ONE is true to her name sake - the first female to be nominated for a Much Music Video Award (Rap), winner of the CCNC PIONEER accolade and constantly redefining the sound and cultural boundaries of Hip hop music. Her most recent album PULAU has reached no. 2 on CBC Radio 3’s Top 30, no. 1 on CJAM (Windsor) radio and remains in the top 10 on SE Asian Radio charts.
Masia One is currently taking on Hollywood, completing her latest album with Los Angeles based record label Kops & Robbers. Grammy award winning producer Che Vicious has crafted an album that features Masia’s remarkable flow over highly infectious dancehall, electro and dance rhythms. This much anticipated release will catapult Masia One into the mainstream as this Singapore- Canadian girl becomes a household name for urban music internationally.

Get ready folks who like grimy hip hop beats along with 8-bit freaks, Glitchy & Scratchy deliver and bassload of melodies and hyper glitchy tracks with their debut release on Muti Music.
Rocking ‘The Village Stage’ at Shambala Festival this past year along with the likes of Spore and Eprom made sure that this duo is no new comer to breaking crunky glitched out beats to a new crowd and making sure it works. Over the past two years, Shaun & Bevan AKA Glitchy & Scratchy have broken the “glitch hop” sound in their hometown of Vancouver, BC, longside their ever-growing posse of bass and glitch heads.
Known as the “Integrated Grime Unit” (a collective which counts among its ranks GlitchHopForum head honcho Dewey dB, as well as bass prodigies Ill-Esha, Jay Wikid, and JmeJ), they promote and shape the face of underground music in their city.
No stranger to crowds of sweaty, happy people, Glitchy & Scratchy have a dancefloor sensibility often forgotten in a world of tweaked wobbles and schizophrenic edits.

An-ten-nae has long been a purveyor of fine exotic beats and low slung crunk.
Acid Crunk Vol 2 started off as a free mixtape that has now been downloaded over 37,000 times. Now, what is Acid Crunk?
It’s a no rules genre bending booty shakin’ synthesis of the dirty dirty that makes that subs in your low rider bump; and it sure goes nicely with that Ice Cream paint job. In the words of Martin Turenne (Straight.com) Acid Crunk “Conjures the druggy textures of early house and the fearsome bass of millennial hip-hop, marrying the West Coast breaks sound with the brooding atmospheres of London’s dubstep scene.”
Acid Crunk Vol. 2 kicks off with An-ten-nae’s own low frequency taser, Bang That, he locks in the dance floor with a deep electro groove and then fires up on all cylinders with a flick of the switch. Next up is Ooah (Glitch Mob & PANTyRAiD) From it’s lush start to its acid tinged convulsing basslines, ‘Foolish Silence’ has devastated every dance floor it’s been dropped on and his live performances have induced pandemonium across the globe, Most recently he appeared on the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s masterpiece film ‘9’. Datsik has virtually dominated the Beatport dubstep charts for months, and here again proves why he is a new standard in audio excellence. With ‘Southpaw’, Datsik delivers the goods. The other half of PANTyRAiD (aka Marty Party) turns Acid Crunk on its head
with a jackknife of a bass-driven track. Following the current success of the PANTyRAiD album The Sauce, (Marine Parade) Marty ‘s forthcoming album, on the same label, due in January 2010.
From ‘Down Under’, our Australian agent in crunk, Opiou, adds a little funk with his crunk ‘King Prawn’. Look out for his forthcoming EP on Addictech Recordings.
Akira Kiteshi has earned support across the board from the likes of Mixmaster Mike, N-type to Mary Anne Hobbs, with ‘Ulysses’, this Scotland native delivers his own nasty brand of alien funk infused dubstep from the 31st century.
Head south to Bristol and you’ll find Gemmy, one leg of the ‘Purple Trinity’ (with Joker and Guido) His newest offering ‘Bleep’ is some Bristol / Brizzle Bass Crunk guaranteed to turn those head nodders into instant body rockers. For more of his unique brand of crunk, check out his track on Mary Anne Hobbs newest compilation “Planet Mu”.
An-ten-nae returns with a remix of ‘Do You’ by UK supergroup Freeland (feat. Adam Freeland & Tommy Lee on Drums), he dissects the track into a heaving acid tinged monster sure to make all the ladies squeal.
The next 3 tracks showcase emerging talent from the US and Canada. Apox who hails from Nevada, Colorodo’s own Samples and Ill-Esha & Dewey DB (Vancouver) throwing down tasteful and versatile tracks from the ‘Glitch Hop’ school of crunk.
Collaborations often bring out the best in artists, and ‘Pharma Sutra’ is a testament to that and this off beat slammer by Filastine (Barcelona) and Ill.Gates (Toronto) will make your jaws drop. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Chillout maestro Bluetech helps bring things down a bit, journeying into thedeeper shades of crunk with ‘Waiting For Initiation’.Finally, no global journey into emerging electronic genres should be complete without a stop to Berlin,so we leave you with Robot Koch and his off-kilter beauty of a track ‘Hard to Fin’, off his upcoming album Deathstar Droid.

Heyoka’s signature sounds of dubbed out, glitchy bass tracks and instrumental Hip Hop are ever present on ‘Marklar’ only this time they’re accented with crunchy dance beats and even venture into Drum & Bass and Electro Bass arenas. Heyoka made his brand international this year playing festivals in Australia, Canada and being ever present at US club nights & festivals. His early influences in Downtempo, Dub and IDM combined with more recent mid-tempo dancefloor genres have helped create a very unique sound that combines relentless basslines, hip hop and dub rhythms with a lot of musicality and melody. The continual evolution of Heyoka’s productions and his ability to continue to sound uniquely ‘Heyoka’ is evidence that the road for this young producer is going to be a long and prosperous one.
