So there is a wave of up and coming producers making their own mark on Glitch Hop with sounds that are specifically tailored around what folks are calling a ‘west coast’ sound. Many of these guys , the artists on the Headtron roster in particular are touring playing original sets of Hip Hop and Jazz inspired beats that are as melodic and pretty as they also have sub driven and bassline driven beats, hence making their own unique imprint on bass music. The Acid Crunk sound has gone global and support on this latest compilation is reflecting it with reviews in German mags Eclat Mag, Ox Mag, Tonspion GmbH as well as Italian mags Chain D.L.K and Wickidstyle and then also in ClubbingSpain. Airplay has expanded to Yugoslavia, UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Hungary, US, Canada, Falklands, Chile, Brazil, New Zealand and Australia and we are sure that the crunk vibes will spread themselves as they are heard more.

Low Frequency Observer seems like they know there bass music and Glitch Hop, here’s what they have to say about Nanda - Cry Of The Ages: ” His version of the sonic assault is conveyed with strategic use of thick low end, well crafted percussion, the warmest synths ever, and tons of good vibes put into the production. He is in the club of the elusive genre shifting artists that can only be defined as “duuude, you just gotta listen.” Luckily for you he just unleashed a monster LP for your mind expanding pleasure. Cry of the Ages, a 13 track journey through many different emotions and points in time, takes you further than you could ever expect to go. nanda creates a lush soundscape that reflects his super positive modest projection of himself.” read more here: http://www.lowfreq.com/2011/09/no-crying-for-nanda-only-of-the-ages/

So these guys not only put out some of the best crunked out lazor-bass and Glitch Hop , but the style works really well for mashups and the like. They were kind enough to make a few available for the general public to download from their soundcloud page. You can read more about it on the Subsynthesis Blog too : http://www.subsynthesis.com/2011/09/knight-riderz-bootlegs-vol-1

Here’s a blog http://www.subsynthesis.com/ that has been showing love for all things bass and glitch oriented for quite some time and we had a feeling they might like this release, much bass love and thanks for the support, read their full review for Stephan Jacobs & Love and Light - 143 here: http://www.subsynthesis.com/2011/07/stephan-jacobs-love-light-143/

We found this great blog that gives love to loads of our artists and according to the Knight Riderz they loved it because it was a reviewer that ‘got it’ !
beglitched.com:
“As any genre grows the music lover has to sift through more and more mediocre music to get to the tunes that really stand out and give you that rush of experiencing something that is unlike any other music you have heard before. It is up to the artist to consistently push their boundaries by not relying on formulas that have worked in the past. Once they push past that familiar territory and enter into the unknown, that is where the magic happens- all things are possible and amazing music is made from the willingness to experiment….read more here http://beglitched.com/knight-riderz-12th-dimension/

Hot on the South African touring bass music and Hip Hop scenes is P.H.Fat, making everybody get down like animals and otherwise get a shot of Dinosaur Blood. Their new album on Muti Music has made a mark and people are yearning to see what these guys come up with next. Greg Reve feat. Whosane - Decoy featured on The Echo Show
So we don’t always understand reviews and sometimes we just can’t translate cos we don’t know the orig8nal language. Then there are the free web translations sites which are quite a trip all on their own. Anyway the lovely folks at The Echo show have shown us some support and we’d love to do the same for them, so check out the review here: http://theechoshow.blogspot.com/2011/06/greg-reve-tob-feat-whosane-decoy-ep.html

London-based producer Son of Kick is not playing around, as the onslaught of bass in his tracks will tell you. His genre has been dubbed “psychostep,” which I think is pretty appropriate, especially for his upcoming Muti Music release Playing the Villain. I’d brace myself before listening, if I were you.

Here’s some French blog coverage on the forthcoming Timonkey - Astral Traveler .....
and yes it says pretty much what our press sheet says too, but it says it in French and we’re told it’s more sexy that way anyway, so we thought it should be shared:
“Astral Traveler” est la dernière sortie de Timonkey. Il continue ici sa quête de faire du dancefloor un endroit encore plus merveilleux pour les amateurs de basses sagaces.”
“Astral Traveler est profond, et funky; parfait pour un début de journée ou de soirée.”

Another great Blog covering all sorts of bass driven and glitchy tunes is http://www.subsynthesis.com, we were happy to find they liked our recent release by +Verb who has been making some noise in the Blogosphere.
“Yet another fantastic producer joins the ranks of artists releasing compilation albums composed around a single hit track. +verb never fails to produce spectacular and highly original tracks. An ideal blend of lasers, bounce and bass, +verb always hits the sweet spot with his musical creations. “Cough” is yet another highly innovative original by +verb and the lineup he has selected to do the remixes absolutely ensures the quality of the album. The “Cough” remix compilation, released via Muti Music, is yet another must-buy of 2011. ... read more and listen to some of the tunes here : http://www.subsynthesis.com/2011/02/verb-cough-remix-album/

Speaker Humpin is one of the biggest tracks of the year from producer Subvert. He’s band together some of the biggest names in bass music to create multiple remixes. Within a day of it’s release Mimosa - Silver Lining broke through into the iTunes Top 10 for Electronica this week, his EP Psychedelic Stereo is also in the current Top 200 and the ‘Dance’ charts also feature Hostilis and Flux For Life. Also popping into the iTunes Dance Top 200 this week were An-ten-nae Presents Acid Crunk Vol. 2 and in the also in the Electronica charts were the Heyoka albums ‘Marklar’ and ‘Gate Code’.
All we can say is thank you for your support and let’s keep making a name for these great artists ![]()

If you’re at all like me, a minimal tech, indie hip-hop fan who’s becoming increasingly confused by the nominalization of the various distillations of the two respective genres and/or their hybrids, then I’ll spare you the jargon and avoid trying to pigeon-hole MiM0SA’s sound as being “funky-witch-house” or “dubhop-groovy-pants” or something. Simply put, the LA-based DJ/producer is one in a series of southland players who’ve been helping to breed a dup-step-originated music scene that’s huge here in the area and has, till now, been fully out of the eye of the mainstream. read more at URB http://www.urb.com/2010/09/17/urb-exclusive-mim0sas-deadly-debut-single/

It many respects, it seems as though wobble bass has staged a coup on traditional forms of electronic music. But most DJs will tell you, it’s not hard to make wobble. The toughest part is making something happen with it. For an artist like Ana Sia, she never has to think twice. While some of the music’s charm is in its sporadic tendencies, the song structure and composition is exceptional. And it doesn’t hurt that every single section sounds like some of the grimiest, filthiest and joyful West Coast electro in recent memory.

Mimosa’s new remix of Nina Simone - Put A Spell On You has taken the Blog world by storm this past week http://hypem.com/#/search/nina%20simone/1/ with great response including being featured in the UK Independent as one of the most Blogged about artists along with Kanye West and Florrie http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/most-blogged-artists-kanye-west-florrie-nina-simone-2073811.html

This week we are graced to have a new Fire Friday Mix! Ana Sia was in one of the Glitch.fm djs studio for a show! This past Sunday the Salvage Future show hosted by Thirsty and Bertzerker brought in the lovely Ana Sia and she totally rocked it!
Ana Sia has recently put out a new EP, International Profile, on the infamous Muti Label. She has been working closely with the one and only phat conductor, ill gates! The first track caught my ear. Be sure to pick up the release!
Got to give tons of respect to Ana Sia for all she does. It can be tough in an industry where it’s mainly all male driven. I’ve personally met her but have only heard good things. She apparently had encouraged Epcot to come hang out during WMC when he recorded a show with us. Big thanks to her on that one considering Epcot had a lot of knowledge to drop on me about promoting and doing events.

As I began reviewing Timonkey’s newest album, Future Perfect (Muti Music), I knew I had to lay down on my couch for this. As I hit “play,” otherworldly dubbed out journeys through the minds sky began to knit the hemispheres of my brain. Shall I say: wobbly sonic scrub a dub dubs pound you like a massage therapist chewing at your muscles or an all consuming audio brew hand crafted by a Chinese herbalist to cleanse and re-pattern your Chi? Both!
As his press release states: “10 years ago, Timonkey climbed a massive Redwood tree that towered above a renegade party in the Santa Cruz Mountains. As the sun rose, he received the inspiration for what has been his mission ever since: to make the best sunrise music ever. Delivering a proper morning set is a delicate art: the dancers need strong energy to keep going, but they are also craving something different by this point in the experience. Timonkey is one of the few DJ/Producers who… can give a long night of rave and revelry the closing ritual it deserves.”

Has anyone else noticed a huge difference between Nor Cal’s bass music and the rest of the world’s bass music? Nor Cal producers have this hyphy hip hop tear-out laser sound that is so distinctly theirs… and they really fucking love their wobbles. That said, Siren’s “Jingletown” (Muti) has a definitive Nor Cal vibe to it. He tries to capture the vibe of ”Jingletown,” the ghetto neighborhood in the south part of Oakland in a meaty five course album.

Over the past two years, Shaun & Bevan aka Glitchy & Scratchy have single handedly broken the “glitch hop” sound in their hometown of Vancouver, BC.
Alongside their ever-growing posse of bass and glitch heads, the “Integrated Grime Unit” (a collective which counts among its ranks GlitchHopForum head honcho Dewey dB,, as well as bass prodigies Ill-Esha, Jay Wikid, and JmeJ), they promote and shape the face of underground music in their city
Alongside their ever-growing posse of bass and glitch heads, the “Integrated Grime Unit” (a collective which counts among its ranks GlitchHopForum head honcho Dewey dB, as well as bass prodigies Ill-Esha, Jay Wikid, and JmeJ), they promote and shape the face of underground music in their city. No stranger to crowds of sweaty, happy people, Glitchy & Scratchy have a dancefloor sensibility often forgotten in a world of tweaked wobbles and schizfreaked edits. Glitchy & Scratchy - Broken Logic EP is coming out soon on Muti Music.
