Live drums, heavy synths, groove and energy are the foundation that Brandon Hale AKA Siren builds on. Hailing from Oregon and now settled in San Francisco, Siren is another new west coast find that has been making his distinctive mark on midtempo breakbeats and dubstep.
With a background of metal influences and playing piano, saxaphone, drums in punk, ska and metal bands, Siren brings both melody and unforgiving edge to his productions. Already making headway with touring the ‘bass’ scenes of the US west. His release ‘Spawn’ broke some barriers and the ‘Jingletown’ took his production into heavy dubstep and urban funk, this young producer will be surprising us many more times in the future.
Expect bass that hits you in the gut, raw and pounding lead riffs and some epic instrumental accompaniments, truly made for ‘large’ environments or the most urban of cellars.
‘Jingletown’ is a name given to a ghetto neighborhood on the south side of Oakland where cultures collide. Home to some of the best Burritos in the Bay Area, some of the most hyped of the Hyphe Hip Hop scene and some scary street sideshows.
Both successful and starving artists live there for the cheaper large work spaces, musicians like it because they get away with noise at all hours and the rest is wreaths on the sidewalk from a recent drive by or some other gang related violence.
On ‘Jingletown’ , Siren delves into the sound and energy of the neighborhood.
The ecstatic enjoyment of good tunes in a lowrider on the sunny day, is ‘Summertime In Oakland’, the edginess of hitting those same streets at night is reflected on the tracks ‘Law & Disorder’ and ‘Negative Ion’, ‘Stunna’ is hitting the happening club or underground warehouse party and then escaping it all as you wizz away on the freeway are the sounds of ‘Burst’.
Since his debut on Muti Music last year, Siren took the US west coast by storm. He was quickly signed to an agency alongside the likes of Kraddy, Mimosa, RD and Marty Party and began his career as a touring DJ & producer.
Some recent highlights include playing to thousands of fans on the Do Lab Stage at Coachella this year and headlining at Beta in Denver.
“Urban and epic, blurring the lines between Dubstep and midtempo Breakbeats in a very satisfying way”
Siren is one of our most highly anticipated new artists on Muti for 2009, already started making his mark in 2008, performing in Oregon and California, doing mini- west coast tours and playing alongside Mimosa, Knowa Knowone, Sleepyhead, Kitty D and many more of the emerging midtempo / dubstep artists.
Siren has a background in Metal music and dynamic live drumming sounds that really come through in his electronic music productions, his attention to beats in particular make his bass drop even harder, so expect it to be epic andhave a good amount of edge.
