Knowa Knowone has been pushing crunky midtempo breaks of all sorts for quite some time, featuring edgy bass driven beats, complex drum programming, strong melodies and vocal performances from some of the most secret lyricist weapons out of Oakland and strongly inspired by classic Underground and Hyphy Hip Hop.
He takes deep strides into this bold new territory with a visionary fusion of the whompy, bass driven sound that is fueling bass culture and tight Hip Hop and Reggae flavors.
With releases on Street Ritual Recordings and Muti Music and previous collaborations with ill.Gates, Mimosa and Sleepyhead, Knowa is no stranger to producing cutting edge beats.

“Qāri’ (Arabic: قَارٍئ‎, plural قُرَّأ qurrā) “reader” is a person who recites the Qur’an with the proper rules of recitation (tajwīd). The Quari is a meditative journey through the depths of rhythm and bass, guided by the voice of a female Quari, reciting an actual verse from the Qur’an.

Naked on Acid is my vision of painting with sound. It’s sounds, thoughts and textures drawn across the auditory spectrum with brushlike strokes, flowing into eachother and creating a synesthetic field to journey into. My recommendation: Sit down in-between your speakers, the stereo field, close your eyes and really listen. Video coming soon!

Fire on the Roof is my tribute to the roots of B-boy and HipHop culture. Unapologetic dance floor mayhem cut and spliced with classic hiphop bits and scratches. Yes, that’s me scratching on a Technics 1200, like we used to do in the old days.

ill.Gates is a Toronto-based composer, performer and educator. Over the past 15 years, he has established a global fanbase and a reputation as one of the most dynamic electronic music artists around. He regularly tours across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Gates has headlined at such festivals as Burning Man, Shambala, the World Electronic Music Festival and the New Orleans Jazz Festival. 
His first full-length release, Autopirate (Muti Music, 2008), reached #1 on many esteemed charts; and continues to sell strongly. Many of his contemporaries cite Gates (aka The Phat Conductor) as a key artistic influence and inspiration in their music. While on tour, Gates frequently teaches workshops to grateful and attentive audiences, in which he shares his highly effective approach to producing quality finished music as well as insights into the mentality and strategies necessary to succeed in the music business. 

Symbiosis Gathering in it’s 5th year has become a unique festival in Yosemite California featuring leading artists in a broad range of music styles including House, Electro, Dubstep, Breakbeat to Jamtronica and performance art groups like The Yard Dogs, artist Andrew Jones visual art project called, Phadroid and live painting by Alex Grey.
This year they contacted Muti Music to help put together a compilation featuring some of the stars and rising stars of the 2009 gathering and the result is nothing short of spectacular, Muti staples like An-ten-nae, Heyoka and Knowa Knowone are featured along with the likes of Eskmo, Beats Antique, Worthy and Goddess Alchemy Project, the compilation also features the debut release from Mimosa’s one side project with Sleepytime called, SexyTime. Pop it on and get ready for a diverse journey into festival style electronica.

“Free Energy” puts all the elements of the recent midtempo breakbeat revival on display, featuring edgy bass driven beats, complex drum programming, strong melodies and vocal stylings inspired by classic Underground and Hyphy Hip Hop. It takes deep strides into this bold new territory with a visionary fusion of the whompy, dubstep bass sound that is driving the new movement, and tight, Hip Hop and Reggae flavors.

Knowa KnowOne’s title track “Free Energy” features sacred spoken words from Wiseproof, Firewater, New Eon and the ever-conscious flow of Seasunz, from the group Wisdom, most recently featured on Bassnectar’s “Underground Communication” . Ethnic and indigenous rhythms are blended and syncopated to finely tuned breaks, beats and bass throughout the EP, which also includes a collaboration with one of Muti’s recently successful artists, Mimosa, on the track ‘Incantation’. For all the DJs out there, the A’capella version of “Free Energy” is available.
