E.V.A.C. (aka. Jeremy Goldstein) the hosts and initial creators of Nubreaks.com. Their 12″ on Napzzz put them in the public eye and their release on Muti put them in every top jocks record bag from Andy Weatherall, Radioactive Man, Bass Junkie, Scape One and Dexorcist to Tipper, Phil K and a host of other breaks DJs. EVAC specialize in intricate rhythm structures and soundscapes, giving them a versatility that is hard to equal either on the dancefloor or as ‘listening’ music. They do deal out heavy doses of Bass frequencies that Electro and breaks junkies alike love. The musical collaboration between Ed Hickey and Jeremy Goldstein began over 5 years ago when the two founded Quadrant5 Studios. Quadrant5 was created as an outlet for personal and commercial audio projects such as internet, broadcast and film. Since it’s conception Quadrant5 has been succcesfull in both fields; winning two Omni Awardsand numerouspostive reviews in international publications.Listen: Live and DJ sets at Quadrant5 Studios
The first of two CD’s compiling all the Muti Music catalog from the first three years, this one including two previously unreleased remixes of Kemek The Dope Computers track ‘Angel Dust’, the remix by Odeed is a grime influenced track featuring chunky bass stabs and a very funky groove.
The release also features artwork from an image by one of our favorite visual artists, Mark Holthusen.
Urb Magazine: Wicked electro is the name of the game on this beauty. The programming on both tracks is tight and tasteful. “Ground Attack” is a full-on floor assault with its bubbly syncopation, incessant bass line and slick beats. Just when you thought it was safe to resume your wallflower status, “Contortion” hits with dark-step beats, mangled bass drops and a snare drum to rattle the fillings in your teeth._Uberzone
BPM Magazine: Muti Music’s strong track record (Future Funk Squad and Ant*ten*nae) continues and earns them our feature of the month. Ed Hickey and Jeremy Goldstein are EVAC and their musical passion shows. Electro breaks. It’s booming, it’s intricate, it’s dark, it’s hard hitting. Sure to please fans of Tipper, BLIM, Jackal and Hyde. 5/5 _Simply Jeff
Lotus: E.V.A.C. are the hosts and creators of Nubreaks.com; a top destination on the webfor the breaks community and are set to take off in a big way this year. They have also just finished an remix for Dave Tipper and Mike Wallis (Crunch) and this 12″ on Muti will put them on many a bass fans top 10 list. My favorite track here is ”Ground Attack, a solid roller guarenteed to shake the dance floors to submission. Do not miss this release.
