Artist: Great Scott
Title: Tarot
Cat # Muti043
UPC # 705105137704
Great Scott made his mark with his past two EPs; Bollygraph Test and The Grand Conspiracy, both receiving support on BBC radio and his track ‘Defcon’ being included on the new ‘LoveEvolution’ CD (San Francisco’s answer to Love Parade) along with many luminaries of dance music culture including Bassnectar, Lee Coombs, Miguel Migs, Hyper & Jhz, Chrostopher Lawrence and many more . (see http://www.epiphyterecords.com/releases/lovevolution-compilation.html)
This new EP is once again a combination of midtempo / Bigbeats and uptempo Breakbeats, Tarot is more for peak time moments, while the midtempo funk of the other tracks provides plenty to dance to and once again MC Nibu os featured on vocal duties.
Great Scott is the host of “MK Ultra,” on KTRU in Houston, is a regular on NSB Radio, has also been a resident DJ in China and was one of the NuSkoolBreaks radio DJs at WMC 2009. Recently Scott also founded and launched a new online radio show, Glitch. FM, which has fast become the centerpiece radio station for the emerging genres of wonky, glitch hop, lazer bass, turbo crunk, acid crunk and whatever else you’d like to call the new edgy instrumental hip hop and breakbeat scenes. Strongly inspired by the sounds of old-school big beat and breaks, including the likes of Fluke, The Prodigy, and Rabbit In The Moon, Scott is constantly attempting to fuse the sounds of the old with that of the new, while trying to achieve a delicate balance between producing music that’s meant to make people move, with that which inflicts various emotions and imagery.

We are honored to be invited to showcase some of Muti’s top artists at this years Decibel Festival in Seattle. Tweet this event - Facebook event listing
This is what they has to say about our Muti showcase :
Genres: Breakbeat / Crunk / Dub / Glitch / Hip Hop / IDM / Visual
Description:
Muti Music was born in the hazy land of San Francisco, an area long known for innovative trends in art and technology that provided a perfect setting for the emergence of a new type of experimental bass music that the region is now known for. Since 2002 this fresh and dynamic label has supported and promoted the wide minds of artists both domestic and international, making a distinctive mark on the evolution of West Coast Sound. Tribal futurists have found a home with Muti, which is the Bantu word for ‘tree’ or ‘herbal medicine,’ and all who hear this young record label’s organic and transformative sound will indeed experience a catharsis by crunk.
Heyoka begins your healing journey with his gurgling and grinding strain of psychedelic beats, the bass drenching your body in heady reverb as light cosmic sounds bubble out of your brain and lift you to another plane. Mimosa’s sexy, dub-infused basslines continue the warm expedition through a beautiful, beat-soaked soundscape, slapping you ever so lightly now and again to make sure you haven’t slipped into oblivion. The founder of Muti Music, Dov, pushes through boundaries with an elevated and emotive sound; his diverse and adaptive style marks the experience of this San Francisco mainstay. Finally an-ten-nae puts the crunchy cherry on top with his slick blend of broken beats, freaky funk and twists from tomorrow, completing your dosage of music as medicine.
Warning: This medicine has been found to be highly addictive and can lead to spastic convulsions, particularly on the dance floor, often resulting in ecstatic joy and a feeling of complete freedom.

Artist: Nanda
Title: Beyond Mind
Cat # Muti042
UPC # 705105138305
Special thanks to Clay Collar (http://constantcreation.org/) for his work on artwork and design.
Nanda is fast becoming known as one of the US west coasts bass maestro’s with tracks like his ‘Yoda Knowledge’ being the # 1 seller on Addictech for 2009 and also featuring prominently on Beatport and Juno Download charts. So once again we’ve got some heavy bass driven beats, this time Nanda drops an experience of deep beats occasionally filled out with tribal vocals, light atmospheric accents and overall driven by textured basslines.
Nanda typically dips into multiple influences and emerges with something broken in beats and flirting with Dubstep, Grime, Garage, Electro Bass and Downtempo music genre classifications. The result is something that pushes a few edges technologically and somehow retains a sense of worldliness.

Artist: ill.gates & adamduke
Title: Closet Caveman
Cat # Muti041
UPC # 705105136509
After relaunching under his new production name last year, ill.gates (also known as The Phat Conductor), has remixed Si Begg on Noodles, Eprom on Addictech Recordings, Sub Swara on Low Motion Recordings, Mochipet on Daily City Records, co-produced and remixed DJ Dan with Robb G and released a highly acclaimed album ‘Autopirate’ on Muti Music.
ill.gates is a chameleon amongst producers moving effortlessly between genres and well known for his custom Ableton performance & production templates. His production know-how and willingness to collaborate has led to him working with many accomplished musicians and this time around collaborating with Toronto based Techno producer adamduke and the pair deliver an experimental EP that moves from minimalist tech-house through to dubstep and is as twisted as it is dance friendly and very playful while at it.
adamduke has 9 years in Toronto’s electronic community, both on his own and as half of notorious DJ duo ‘The Dukes’, he’s been billed alongside numerous major international acts like Ellen Allien, Tony Rohr, Carl Craig, Matthew Herbert, Kevin Saunderson, Joey Beltram, Bassnector, Afrika Bambaataa and Miss Kitten to name but a few. This is his debut release and we’re sure we’ll be hearing more from him.
